A Canterbury scientist has recently caused quite a stir in the fashion world! The ruckus was made apparent when she unleashed a new theory.

This theory came in the shape of a fact that has furied many women!

The scientist, who goes by the name of Boyce, believe that woman who buy shoes obsessively do so because they feel insecure!

We would prefer to think that it was because of the ever-changing trends, making it impossible to buy just one pair when 100 equally gorgeous styles are staring us in the face!

Then there are of course the many styles; you can’t just buy one shoe for all occasions! We need (need is not said lightly) a pair or three for work, then a few different styles for evenings on the town, then there are the off-duty shoes such as wellington boots and Melissa Jelly flats and then of course the winter selection!

Woman cannot survive on one shoe alone, especially if you see yourself as a high-rising fashionista!

Men have there boys toys, why shouldn’t we treat ourselves to the odd pair now and again?

The scientist that came up with this threatening theory has stated that many women feel threatened by the media. Our obsession with accessories and clothing is due to the many images of beautiful woman adorned in beautiful attire, which are in fact seen daily flaunted on billboard ads, on the side of tubes, gracing shop windows, in the media and in the magazines we read everyday!

Apparently accessories help perceive physical attraction! Whatever the outcome of this theory, we can’t imagine any one of us is going to cease our shoe buying anytime soon! Especially when there are so many hot new trends and styles to choose from! This season’s shoes are proving to be the perfect investments for the summer months! Think statement prints, florals and Hawaiian patterns!

This season is less about the skinny stiletto and more about the statement wedge!

Yes that’s right girls, a fashion that is kind to our feet!

Wedges are the preferred summer footwear choice for many. This is quite simply because they are a lot easier to walk in.

When we are leaving the beach to go to the local cocktail bar, we sometimes feel flats are a little under dressy! Wedges however offed a little more lift and style.

This seasons wedges have however been taken to a new level. Think statement Moshino enthused style, colourful weaving and wedges that offer a more sculptured state!

These are the wedges we should be investing in this season. Gone are the standard tan, brown and black shades! This season is very much about working colour into the wedge. This may be with ribbon tie-ups or a whole hoard of embellishments.

The best way to steal a little style inspiration is to look to the catwalks.

Anything the models are wearing is bound to be a big hit in the coming months!

Wedges are also a great option if you intend to wear a longer maxi dress on holiday. You don’t want to be walking around the beach bars in uber high stiletto heels, you don’t however wish to be tripping over your maxi dress on several occasions.

This is where a great pair of conformance wedges come in. They ate high enough to make a statement and keep your dress from making continuous contact with the ground. They are also robust enough to keep you balanced. This allows for support.

The wedge has also been transcended into the boot and those that prefer an easier walking choice will invest in the likes of a wedged low slung boot. If you prefer a style that is a little higher on the leg, look to a wedged heel calf boot.

Both are very smart options and both make it easier to walk to and from a variety of places!

This doesn’t mean you can’t invest in the latest styles however. Many highstreet brands take their inspiration from the styles strutting down the catwalks, meaning the non-A-list fashionista’s are able to invest in designer looks for a fraction of the price.

Ever get that happy feeling when you purchase a pair of shoes you’ve wanted for weeks? We all do! Shoes are a great addition to an outfit and can in fact make or break the look.

Whether you opt for super sexy and glamorous or comfortable, sweet and comfortable, this season’s shoe designers most certainly have something to suit all of your needs.

This season’s spring and summer styles showcased a series of metallic toes. The metallic toe was once used as a practical toe saving mechanism for builders and industry engineers. It has now however made its way onto the runway. The end result is a truly statement shoe style that almost looks a little futuristic.

The metallic toe has certainly been brought to a fresh and more glamorous level, think winkle picker white heels with a silver point, sling backs with armour and black booties with statement gold pointy toes.

Another popular trend this season comes in the shape of beaded sandals. They are a great look for summer and should most definitely be invested in if you have any holidays planned. Braided sandals are in fact a revived trend from the past and one that we like very much!

Bright shades, hot hues and an unusual braiding technique make these shoes the perfect eclectic style for summer fashions.

Invest in a formal leather pair for work dos and evenings on the tiles, a casual pair of trainers for sporting events and laid-back weekends and a pair of statement sandals for when the sun comes out! Explore designer boots for this season’s latest shoe candy, we guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Now that you have your holiday footwear sorted, you will need to start thinking about investing in a few accessories to match! Luggage is a must-have! Lots of people tend to leave this to last; such accessories can however make or break a look.

Opt for a handsome holdall from Mulberry, Paul Smith or Herschel. None of the bags from any of designers will leave you feeling embarrassed at the luggage carousel.

Tan leather and dark browns are always a great option, as they tend to age very well. They will also go with the majority of items in a guy’s wardrobe. It is pointless buying a super bright and vibrant bag if you intend to wear smart holiday attire. The bag in question will end up looking like an eye sore rather than a fashion statement. Opt for something instead that looks effortlessly classic and on-trend for many season’s to come.

Match your brogues to your holdall. They are after all the holiday shoes of choice so you might as well wear them to the airport.

There is an array of designer boat shoes on the market for the summer season and many of them come in a popular navy blue or tan leather style. These are most certainly a great investment for any up-and-coming holidays you may have on the cards.

Loafers are a must for the summer and a great holiday shoe. They were originally made popular in the 1930’s; the slip on loafer is however receiving a little revival this year!

For a thoroughly modern look, opt for retro brights and for a little more of a conventional style, choose from a range of tan shades.

High tops are the definition of cool. They have stepped outside of the basketball court and onto the streets in order to portray the ultimate retro look. These high street essentials have lost their sporty element and have instead undergone a designer style.

Sandals are another popular choice. They are also one of the oldest know footwear options to man. Choose from standard thong style to gladiator cross over straps and Jesus shoes. This season’s sandal choices are endless! Whatever you do, don’t wear them with socks!

Lace-ups are net up and come in the shape of overly cool shoes that can be worn to both work and to play! The Oxford lace-up is distinguished by its bright lacing and is seen as a British classic. It has the ability to look smart and equally classic but also quite casual when worn with certain attire. The boat shoe is a summer staple and a perfect accessory to your summer wardrobe!

Never underestimate the importance of good shoes. Every man should house a selection of shoes that can be worn to several different occasions. Splurge on one expensive pair that will last you the entire season as appose to a less expensive pair that will fall apart within the first month or two. You will only end up spending more in the long run replacing them!

A fight has emerged in the fashion world! The fight in question is between Francois-Henri Pinault, Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent.

The allegations regarded Louboutin’s signature red soles and that Yves St Laurent had in fact copied the design of the infamous shoes.

Francois-Henri Pinault has revealed that they have won the first proceedings in quite precise and clear terms.

Francois-Henri Pinault is said to be very confident in the next stage of the case, yet still wishes it hadn’t come to this. Both Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent are two great and very major fashion houses and they surely have better things to do other than top argue over a colour.

PPR, the company that owns YSL have in fact made many proposals to purchase Louboutin in the past. Maybe this plagiarism, if true, is in response to the many rejections.

Louboutin has informed the courts that he isn’t trying to copy write a colour and the issues at stake are far more complicated than that. Colour is very specific in the fashion world and the red is held in a specific context. For example you have Ferrari red and then Hermes orange.

Colour is important in a variety of industry’s The purple packaging used by Cadbury’s is infamous and when Nestle used the same colour on their products, Cadbury immediately filed a lawsuit. The purple packaging is what makes them stand out and if another brand was to become the same colour, it could cause confusion from buyers.

The footwear designer has expressed his disappointment at having to take the brand to court as having worked with Yves Saint Laurent before; he has revealed that he initially had great admiration for him.

Despite the fact that it is summer, fashionista’s left, right and centre are already planning their autumn and winter wardrobes. After all if you want to stay at the height of fashion, you must plan ahead!

So what should we expect to see in terms of shoe trends for next season? Well that is a very good question and one that you will need to know the answer too if you intend to be at the forefront of fashion.

Show trends for next season are proving to be as diverse as ever; there is therefore something to suit every persona. Colour pays a major part for next season’s shoe fashions and you should expect to see the likes of stone, white, black, metallic, beige, burgundy, dark blue, chocolate, deep violet, khaki and red. So just about every colour imaginable!

Brighter hues are however a little on the scarce side; this is however normal as most of us tend to opt for darker shades as the seasons start to change and the weather gets a little cooler.

Materials that will be showing their heads in the spring and winter include the likes of ordinary leather styles, reptile skin and patent leather looks. Suede and satin will also be making an appearance.

Lace and the occasional fur embellishment will also be popular with a few designers next season, such elements will add an extra edge to an otherwise subtle shoe style.

Pike and round toes will both be popular and these are in fact the only styles you will see the designers cavorting.

Reptile leather is however revealing itself to be the most popular shoe trend for 2012 and an array of designers have used this fabric to create an assortment of shoe styles. The end result is a statement style that can be worn both on duty and off duty!

Shoes are certainly a fashionista’s best friend; forget diamonds and think crystal encrusted heels; statement brogues, festival style willies and diamanté flip-flops. Shoes are where it’s at and there is a style to suit every occasion. Whether you choose to jump around in a mud enthused field or to dine at a Michelin star restaurant, there is a shoe style to suit all of your needs

Summer work shoes tend to consist of leather sandals with more of a chunky heel. Yes you still want to look stylish; you do however also want to be able to walk around the office without falling into a crumpled heap!

Festivals mean wellies and this season we are working the shorter style. Wear them with anything from chiffon lengthy maxis to cutesy shorts and statement tees. Finish the look with a super hot pair of welly socks!

Suede moccasins are this season making an appearance and they are just darling! Think baby pink suede complete with cutesy tassels and you are good to go.

Wear with ultra boho attire such as cotton dresses, over sized lace enthused tees, denim waistcoats, cotton mix shorts and colourful chinos and jeans.

Next up the canvas and raffia sandal. A must for the new season and great for any up and coming trips away you have planned!

The leather wedge is a fashion must-have at present and foes gret with a selection of smart attire. Think cotton cropped chino style trousers, cotton blazers in colourful shades, smart shirt dresses and silk shirt combos.

The leather shoe is a great option for an evening out on the town. Think sparkle, sheer and metallic and you will rock the ball! Team with feisty accessories such as metallic leather clutches and heavy gold necklaces. You definitely have an excuse to go shoe-shopping ASAP!

Spring has brought with it a new shoes trend in the shape of decorative mules. The classic backless shoe has had a little bit of a re-vamp for the new season.

This season’s mules have been embellished with intricate beading in golden shades, golden brocade and slick stripes. Well this was certainly the case at Oscar de la Renta, Fendi and Rochas.

Louis Vuitton was another designer to take on the mules. The fashion house matched its candy and pastel inspired collection with contemporary pointed mules, which were completed with metal straps and silver dipped toes.

Miu Miu went for something a little more daring and showcased the mule trend in red velvet, brighter than bright patent leather and colour block satin fabric.

All in all, this season’s mega mules are very different to the mules of past seasons. Louis Vuitton’s styles almost looked cosmic. The designer donned such styles with equally contemporary bags and dresses. Dresses were created in pale pastel snakeskins complete with zipped sides. Bags appeared as silver metallic pieces of leather with hundreds of square and diamond shaped holes!

This is certainly the style of the contemporary 21st century woman and this season’s runways also showcased a little of what we should expect to see, in regards to future trends, in the very near future!

We certainly wouldn’t say no to any one of the items showcased and we can’t wait to see what is in store for next season. Get ready to go cosmic ladies!

The colour palette to take note of comes in the shape of metallic shades, pale canary yellow hues, vivid whites and cosmic silvers. The perfect look for the spring and summer season and one that will certainly put a spring into any fashionista’s step! You will have to get in quick however; these pieces went down a treat at Fashion Week so we can guarantee they will be flying off the shelves!

We are getting an insight into next season’s shoe and we can tell you one thing, it’s big, bold and beautiful! The wedge is back and for most girl’s this is great news! The wedge shoe has not only taken on more style than ever, it is also one style of shoe that is super easy to walk in!

Not only is it a great party shoe, it is also a great daytime and holiday shoe! The wedge is the one higher style that doesn’t allow you to sink into the sand. It is also a great summer work shoe when teamed with chino-style shorts.

Whether you wear the wedge heel with leggings and a cute tee, shorts, skirts, summer dresses or trousers, the wedge heel is a must for every fashionista’s wardrobe!

This season’s wedge has however taken on a little bit of a re-vamp! We are seeing new styles emerging in the shape of fully loaded patterns with ribbon ankle ties, soft suede pastel styles and super hot hued designs complete with ankle straps.

In the above cases the shoes do the talking, it is therefore wise to keep the rest of the outfit low key. If you had an equally loud outfit to the mix you may run the risk of looking over the top and too eclectic in style!

The highstreet is already housing these styles in preparation for the summer months, you better get in quick if you fancy yourself a pair however, we have a feeling a comfy and stylish shoe will fly off the shelves!

The tribal style wedges are definitely a must for any summer holidays you may have planned. They look super cool with cutesy bright coloured summer dresses, denim shorts, skirts and any retro printed tees! Oranges work well with canvas and tan print wedges and any distressed leather accessories.
