Work those wedges

16 February 2012 by blogger, No Comments

We are getting an insight into next season’s shoe and we can tell you one thing, it’s big, bold and beautiful!  The wedge is back and for most girl’s this is great news!  The wedge shoe has not only taken on more style than ever, it is also one style of shoe that is super easy to walk in!

Not only is it a great party shoe, it is also a great daytime and holiday shoe!  The wedge is the one higher style that doesn’t allow you to sink into the sand.  It is also a great summer work shoe when teamed with chino-style shorts.

Whether you wear the wedge heel with leggings and a cute tee, shorts, skirts, summer dresses or trousers, the wedge heel is a must for every fashionista’s wardrobe!

This season’s wedge has however taken on a little bit of a re-vamp!  We are seeing new styles emerging in the shape of fully loaded patterns with ribbon ankle ties, soft suede pastel styles and super hot hued designs complete with ankle straps.

In the above cases the shoes do the talking, it is therefore wise to keep the rest of the outfit low key.  If you had an equally loud outfit to the mix you may run the risk of looking over the top and too eclectic in style!

The highstreet is already housing these styles in preparation for the summer months, you better get in quick if you fancy yourself a pair however, we have a feeling a comfy and stylish shoe will fly off the shelves!

The tribal style wedges are definitely a must for any summer holidays you may have planned.  They look super cool with cutesy bright coloured summer dresses, denim shorts, skirts and any retro printed tees!  Oranges work well with canvas and tan print wedges and any distressed leather accessories.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes

1 February 2012 by blogger, No Comments

Your outfit is only complete when your feet are encased in a beautiful pair of heels or a cutesy pair of flats.  The hair, the face, the dress all add to this but what really ties an outfit together is the shoes!

So what should we expect to see this season?  There are in fact quite a few trends doing the rounds, these include the likes of hot hued shoes, espadrilles and wedges, braided sandals, metallic shoes, shoes with laces, pastel shoes, shoes with super platforms, transparent shoes, pointed toes and pastel shoes.

All of the above styles of course suit a different occasion.  For example, you probably won’t need to invest in a braided holiday wedge if you intend to sit in the office all day.  A patent pair of flats complete with metal toe will probably be more suited to a stylish city girl.

Shoes with metal toes were originally invented in order to last longer.  They are however now a practical fashion statement and we should expect to see a variation of metal toed shoe styles in the very near future.

Pointed toes are back.  You may have thought the rounded toe was here to stay but the winkle picker has instead made a come-back.

Nude, pale green, a watered down canary yellow shade and baby blue hues have all been seen on this year’s catwalks and look great when seen in the shape of summer sandals.

The mega platform styles are a must if you intend to make a statement.  They may however not be that easy to walk in.

Transparent shoes are also another style to keep an eye on, they are perfect for the summer month’s and appear as a classy version of the jelly shoe.

Shiny and sparkly shoes will always be a hit, especially when most girls love to play a bit of dress up!  This season however will see the sparkle shoe transform into something that can also work with the every day wardrobe pieces.

Shoes, shoes and even more shoes!

Shoes and designers are really pushing the boat out this season.  In fact we suggest investing in a subtle outfit in order to show off the shoes instead.

From big heels to little heels, mid-heels to super sized wedges and a range of over the knee, under the knee and mid-calf boots!

This is great news for those that don’t have the budget to splurge on a whole new outfit!  Simple splurge on the shoes instead and you will look a million dollars in whatever you wear. Why not team that favourite little black dress with a new pair of super embellished shoes!

Many of the shoes this season in fact offer larger heels as appose to your skyscraper and skinny stiletto type!  This is great news for those that plan to party in the snow!  Wedges and boots are also a great option.  Both will allow you to conquer the snow in order to have that great night out with the girls!

Boots are proving to be a big hit this season, especially those embellished with added details and cutesy extras.  Forget plain Jane and enter a whole new world of skyscraper, sparkly and embellished heels!

Shop online or in store, the only trouble you are going to have purchasing such a shoe is the mass of choice.  Deciding on just one pair is going to be a difficult decision and one that will probably require some help!

If you can only allow yourself one pair, invest in a pair that does all the talking.  This way the footwear will be creating a statement all on its own and you won’t have to match it to anything.  This will therefore allow you to wear your new investment with anything!

Heels are certainly on the agenda this season.  However cutesy pumps with a slight heel are great for a daytime event!

Keeping up with the latest styles

24 November 2011 by blogger, No Comments

Keeping up with the latest trends is difficult at the best of times! Especially when fashions are constantly changing. It in fact sometimes seems that there is often a new trend emerging on a daily basis!

So what is in store for us this season?  When it comes to new shoes, there is quite an array of new styles to check out!  These include the likes of rich coloured numbers complete with ditsy ankle straps, brogues, new-casuals, and metallic, sparkly and velvet numbers!

With so many to choose from, we think it may be a wise idea to add a few to your Christmas wish list!

With shoes constantly strutting down the runways, we are starting to see a pattern.  A lot of the styles for this season are in fact resembling a little of the designs last season.  The only difference being that they have been slightly re-vamped!

One trend that is really placing itself at the forefront of fashion is the buckle!  In fact we saw an unbelievable number of shoes with buckle embellishments.  The shoes that offered buckle embellishments also combined on-trend fabrics, luscious textures and complimentary colours.  All in the entire recent catwalk presentations are a great investment for the party season.

Shiny gold was another big hit and was used in a subtle fashion at a few shows, whilst other designers went completely over the top!

For example some designers combined pastel shades with gold accessories such as an ankle strap.  Other designers went for a block gold, which enthused the entire shoe!  This shoe could be worn with a simple outfit in order to really make it pop!

Check out some of the latest shows for a little style inspiration, just be sure to invest in at least one of the above trends if not both!

Pick and mix ankle straps

24 November 2011 by blogger, No Comments

Take a few style notes from the recent Albino fashion show and rock some dainty ankle straps this season! The one rule to abide by is to mix and match the straps in order to create a fashionably forward contrast to the shoes!

The catwalks showcased an array of ankle straps, deep maroon was teamed with royal blue court shoes and bright grass green met fur enthused shoes. The outcome was eclectic but definitely a must-try trend for the new season! Think of something that you wouldn’t normally put together and give it a whirl; this trend is very much about experimentation!

Many of the shoes available on the high street offer removable straps, meaning you can swap the straps around. Try and team the colour with a certain bag or item of jewellery in order to tie the whole outfit together. For example try pairing canary yellow straps with statement yellow diamond jewels!

Whether you opt for platforms, peep toes or courts, this is a trend that should be tried by all! Suede shoes are very much in this season and come in an assortment of hot rich colours! These colours will add a little spice to any outfit and are a great investment for the up and coming party season!
Check out the red carpet for a little inspiration, the stars are really going all out with a footwear fashion-off!

Hot heels are the perfect addition to outfits worn with opaque tights and as the winter chill has finally set in, this is an option for many of us!

With so many parties on the cards in the run up to Christmas, you really need to start thinking about a few different outfit options!

There is an assortment of high-end and on trend fashion magazines featuring an array of designer goods and highstreet cloober, in order to give you a little insight into what is said to be hot this season.

Many also reveal the latest in all the highstreet stores, if you see something you like, you better run on down to that store. It is more than likely that 100 other fashion savvy girls have seen exactly the same one. This doesn’t mean you can’t make it a little different once you have your hands on it however. Making it your own is easy if you know how, and all comes down to accessories!

Investing in a pair of immense heels is a must and can often really make that outfit shine! There are so many to choose from and this season is still very much about the heel! Think statement cut away boots, super stylish skyscraper heels and embellished booties!

Shoes for the snow

31 October 2011 by blogger, No Comments

Shoes are every girl’s best friend! However sometimes we can’t wear a certain pair to a certain occasion, for example a Sunday tea at your Grandma’s would most likely not be fit for those super sexy stiletto heels with fur embellished accessories!

There are a variety of different types of shoes and all can be worn to a variety of different occasions!

You have your super smart kittens for the office, a pair of cutesy flat pumps for an intense shopping trip with the girls, a stand out pair of statement heels for an evening out on the tiles and then of course there are your winter shoes!

This is where it becomes a little tricky! Shoes for the winter days need to be stylish, comfortable and suited to the harsh weather conditions!

For example those soft suede boots you own will not be friends with the snow, in fact even just one encounter with such weather may ruin them!

There are an assortment of great snow boots on the market that look uber cute with leggings, a gilet and a cutesy fur trimmed hat! They will not only keep your feet warm and toasty, they will also stay in tact after a meeting with the snow!

Check the catwalks out for style inspiration and invest in a pair ASAP!

Hot shoes for summer

15 August 2011 by blogger, No Comments

Gladiator sandals are a must and are one trend that never seems to go out of fashion!  They go with just about everything from statement floor length maxi dresses to cutesy cut-off denim shorts.

They also come in a range of colours and styles including ones that go higher up the ankle for a more statement look and ones that stop lower for a low-key style.  Wear them in tan, black, white, metallic and suede styles.

They are the perfect style staple to take you from the beach to the bar and the best bit, they are super comfy!  They also allow you to show off those perfectly tanned pins and super stylish nails!  Opt for hot, bold colours for summer such as mint greens, turquoise, hot hued orange, statement post box reds and neon shades in yellow, pink and peach.

Why not take a few style notes from the more eccentric stars and paint each nail a different colour, at least will save you on deciding on one sole shade.

If you are not a fan of showing off those toes however, opt for a closed toe version.  This way you won’t have to worry about keeping that pedicure up to date, you will however still look in style and on trend for the summer!

Gent-ly does it.

This season’s shoes have taken a detour and showcase a smart tailored style that is perfect for a country day out or an office.  They also look very kitsh when teamed with denim.

Traditional men’s tailoring is a key trend for autumn and classic footwear always makes sure to follow suit!  Think heeled loafers, brogues and chelsea boots.

Heeled loafers are the perfect option for an office or a ladies lunch and go just as well with trousers as they do with skirts and office wear such as smart suits and blouses.

Brogues are the perfect retro tailored style and can be worn with cut off denim shorts and jeans just as well as they can be worn with statement skinny trousers and cutesy cutoff work trousers.  There are a wide choice of styles available including red patent leather, grey leather, brown with tanned detailing, white with brown leather detailing, and edgy snakeskin and tan leather options.  All are generally lace up, however some appear slip on with a statement tassle or just hoes where the laces should go.

Chelsea boots offer a more casual attire and come in the shape of slightly heeled or flat boots in suede, tan, snakeskin, black biker styles and classic standard leather styles.
