Mega mules

23 February 2012 by blogger, No Comments

Spring has brought with it a new shoes trend in the shape of decorative mules.  The classic backless shoe has had a little bit of a re-vamp for the new season.

This season’s mules have been embellished with intricate beading in golden shades, golden brocade and slick stripes.  Well this was certainly the case at Oscar de la Renta, Fendi and Rochas.

Louis Vuitton was another designer to take on the mules.  The fashion house matched its candy and pastel inspired collection with contemporary pointed mules, which were completed with metal straps and silver dipped toes.

Miu Miu went for something a little more daring and showcased the mule trend in red velvet, brighter than bright patent leather and colour block satin fabric.

All in all, this season’s mega mules are very different to the mules of past seasons.  Louis Vuitton’s styles almost looked cosmic.  The designer donned such styles with equally contemporary bags and dresses.  Dresses were created in pale pastel snakeskins complete with zipped sides.  Bags appeared as silver metallic pieces of leather with hundreds of square and diamond shaped holes!

This is certainly the style of the contemporary 21st century woman and this season’s runways also showcased a little of what we should expect to see, in regards to future trends, in the very near future!

We certainly wouldn’t say no to any one of the items showcased and we can’t wait to see what is in store for next season.  Get ready to go cosmic ladies!

The colour palette to take note of comes in the shape of metallic shades, pale canary yellow hues, vivid whites and cosmic silvers.  The perfect look for the spring and summer season and one that will certainly put a spring into any fashionista’s step!  You will have to get in quick however; these pieces went down a treat at Fashion Week so we can guarantee they will be flying off the shelves!

Work those wedges

We are getting an insight into next season’s shoe and we can tell you one thing, it’s big, bold and beautiful!  The wedge is back and for most girl’s this is great news!  The wedge shoe has not only taken on more style than ever, it is also one style of shoe that is super easy to walk in!

Not only is it a great party shoe, it is also a great daytime and holiday shoe!  The wedge is the one higher style that doesn’t allow you to sink into the sand.  It is also a great summer work shoe when teamed with chino-style shorts.

Whether you wear the wedge heel with leggings and a cute tee, shorts, skirts, summer dresses or trousers, the wedge heel is a must for every fashionista’s wardrobe!

This season’s wedge has however taken on a little bit of a re-vamp!  We are seeing new styles emerging in the shape of fully loaded patterns with ribbon ankle ties, soft suede pastel styles and super hot hued designs complete with ankle straps.

In the above cases the shoes do the talking, it is therefore wise to keep the rest of the outfit low key.  If you had an equally loud outfit to the mix you may run the risk of looking over the top and too eclectic in style!

The highstreet is already housing these styles in preparation for the summer months, you better get in quick if you fancy yourself a pair however, we have a feeling a comfy and stylish shoe will fly off the shelves!

The tribal style wedges are definitely a must for any summer holidays you may have planned.  They look super cool with cutesy bright coloured summer dresses, denim shorts, skirts and any retro printed tees!  Oranges work well with canvas and tan print wedges and any distressed leather accessories.

Shoes, shoes and more shoes

Your outfit is only complete when your feet are encased in a beautiful pair of heels or a cutesy pair of flats.  The hair, the face, the dress all add to this but what really ties an outfit together is the shoes!

So what should we expect to see this season?  There are in fact quite a few trends doing the rounds, these include the likes of hot hued shoes, espadrilles and wedges, braided sandals, metallic shoes, shoes with laces, pastel shoes, shoes with super platforms, transparent shoes, pointed toes and pastel shoes.

All of the above styles of course suit a different occasion.  For example, you probably won’t need to invest in a braided holiday wedge if you intend to sit in the office all day.  A patent pair of flats complete with metal toe will probably be more suited to a stylish city girl.

Shoes with metal toes were originally invented in order to last longer.  They are however now a practical fashion statement and we should expect to see a variation of metal toed shoe styles in the very near future.

Pointed toes are back.  You may have thought the rounded toe was here to stay but the winkle picker has instead made a come-back.

Nude, pale green, a watered down canary yellow shade and baby blue hues have all been seen on this year’s catwalks and look great when seen in the shape of summer sandals.

The mega platform styles are a must if you intend to make a statement.  They may however not be that easy to walk in.

Transparent shoes are also another style to keep an eye on, they are perfect for the summer month’s and appear as a classy version of the jelly shoe.

Shiny and sparkly shoes will always be a hit, especially when most girls love to play a bit of dress up!  This season however will see the sparkle shoe transform into something that can also work with the every day wardrobe pieces.
